I’m currently looking for a creative soul, passionate about storytelling, content creation, video editing and social media engagement, to join my team as a Social Media Manager.
The ideal person will:
- Be familiar with my work and online voice.
- Be passionate about social media, especially Instagram.
- Have past experience in managing Instagram, including brainstorming content ideas, creating posts, and creatively editing reels.
- Have creative ideas to grow engagement and reach on Instagram organically, and the skills to implement them.
- Be comfortable using Instagram insights for reporting and making strategic decisions.
- Have an understanding of sustainable travel, or be willing to learn.
- Be able to work remotely and keep up with timelines, without constant oversight.
- Ideally be based in one location with steady access to good wifi.
Social media managers who’ve worked with me in the past have gone on to chart beautiful life paths in biodiversity research, children’s education, and environmental conservation.
The role
You’ll work closely with me to manage my social media accounts, especially Instagram. Your role will involve:
- Managing my Instagram account, including developing and managing a monthly editorial calendar, and brainstorming, creating and posting content.
- Repurposing blog content into Instagram content, and vice versa.
- Repurposing Instagram content into content for other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and emerging new channels.
- Responding timely to comments and DMs as needed.
- Developing and implementing creative ideas to increase organic engagement and reach on Instagram.
- Tracking social media metrics and analyzing insights to evaluate the performance of social media posts and collabs.
- Reporting insights for brand campaigns.
You’ll have the chance to see your work impact a large, engaged audience.
Commitment
This is a part-time, virtual position. You can be based anywhere in the world.
You will be expected to commit to a set of daily deliverables spread out throughout the day, for an estimated total of 3-4 hours per day.
This role is best suited for someone who steadily works from home, and is looking to make a long term commitment. This role is not suited for someone who travels often or is looking for travel opportunities.
Requirements
- Discipline and ability to work from home, respond timely to deadlines, and submit regular updates. Estimated commitment: 15-20 hours a week.
- Past experience in managing Instagram, including content creation, video editing and Instagram insights.
- Proficiency in creating engaging and compelling content across various platforms. This involves understanding different content formats (text, images, carousels, videos) and tailoring them to suit each social media platform.
- Knowledge of tools like Canva to create visually appealing and shareable social media content.
- Ability to monitor and engage with the audience, respond to comments and messages, and manage overall community interaction.
- Ability to keep up with social media developments, algorithm changes, platform updates and emerging technologies, and adapting them in a relevant and meaningful way.
- Creativity and drive to develop and implement new ideas to grow engagement and reach.
- Proficiency in using social media analytics to track and measure the performance of work.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Keen attention to detail.
