Contest: Win a Flight to Europe With Lufthansa!

Back in 2011, when I took my first trip to Europe, I wasn’t a travel blogger. I was just a girl with a dream to see the world. I was bound to a cubicle, with a 9 to 5 schedule that I couldn’t wait to break out of. And then it happened. I took part in a travel contest on Facebook, and unexpectedly won two return flights to Paris! I decided to make a full-blown Euro Trip out of it, started blogging about travel, and the rest as they say, is history (Read: The Story of How I Quit My Job to Travel). Shivya NathWelcome to my blog, The Shooting Star. I’ve been called a storyteller, writer, photographer, digital nomad, “sustainability influencer,” social entrepreneur, solo traveller, vegan, sustainable tourism consultant and environmentalist. But in my heart, I’m just a girl who believes that travel – if done right – has the power to change us and the world we live in.

#WeGoSolo Contest: Your Dream Solo Travel Destination!

Back in early 2011, I remember sitting at my cubicle on just another day at work in Singapore. I had pictures of Spiti open before me, while all my pending work lurked away in other tabs. After spending so much money, time and effort on obtaining a bachelor’s degree in a subject I really couldn’t care less about, graduating in the middle of a recession that people wouldn’t stop talking about, and spending the first six months of corporate life in a role involving spreadsheets that made me absolutely miserable, I was finally doing work I actually liked. β€œTravel Out of Your Comfort Zone” Contest!

As I pack my bags for Andhra Pradesh, Pondicherry and Punjab for the next couple of weeks, I am delighted to announce that it is (almost) raining contests on The Shooting Star! This time, it’s thanks to the kind folks at CupONation, an online retail website that offers discounts and deals for a whole range of products, including Make My Trip, Clear Trip, Expedia and Yatra in the travel category. What do you win? A few weeks ago, I asked you through a Facebook poll, what you would most like to win – and those of you that did vote, picked a Flipkart voucher worth INR 8,000 as your top choice. And that’s exactly what you’re winning this month! Shivya NathWelcome to my blog, The Shooting Star. I’m Going to Turkey!

For an eternity, I’ve dreamt about cooling off in a hamam,Β having real Turkish pide & shisha on a rooftop cafe, hot ballooning over the caves of Cappadocia, having Turkish teaΒ with the locals, catching some sun on the Medditeranian coast, placing one footΒ in Europe & the other in Asia, traversing the Black Sea coast, and falling in love with the half ancient half modern city of Istanbul. The closest I’ve been to Turkey so far is Arab street in Singapore, and I’m pretty sure that even with its rustic ambiance, carpet shops, and late night shisha cafes, it doesn’t come close.
