Welcome to the award-winning sustainable travel blog, published by Shivya Nath.

For over a decade, I’ve been writing at the intersection of travel, local communities and climate action. This journey has taken me as far within as with my feet.

For 7 years, I travelled the world without a home and lived out of two bags. Along the way, I left little pieces of myself behind – everywhere I went and in everyone I met.

I learnt that travel – if done right – has the potential to enable climate action, conserve biodiversity, preserve Indigenous ways of life and transform us within.

About me

Hello, I’m Shivya! In 2011, at age 23, I quit my corporate job with a dream of travelling the globe (way before it became trendy ;-)). For seven years, I lived out of two bags, seeking adventure in some of the world’s remotest places and learning from local communities.

Some of my most cherished memories include a life-changing month on the wild Robinson Crusoe Island off the coast of Chile, travelling overland from the Persian Gulf via Iran to Armenia, living with a Mayan community in Guatemala, volunteering at a coral reef restoration project in Cuba, living at a nunnery in Ladakh, and shedding my inhibitions and clothes at onsens across Japan. I hope to inspire you to experience the world – consciously and adventurously!
