Lufthansa Contest: Can You “Park The A380”?

travel blogger India, Lufthansa India, Lufthansa contest

As a little girl, I often dreamt of what I would become when I grew up. Travel blogging wasn’t in my dictionary then! I dreamt of becoming a detective; solving the Bermuda Triangle mystery would be my first priority. I dreamt of being a famous writer; my books would move people to tears (I was sadistic that way). And I dreamt of flying planes.

I chased my dreams furiously. I would investigate old abandoned houses in a friend’s backyard for paranormal activity. I would write what I thought was heart-breaking poetry on scraps of paper and hide them away. But I never got close to flying a plane. So when Lufthansa announced “Park the A380” on the Lufthansa India Facebook page, I knew I had to give it a shot!

The Game

Unlike their Network Challenge, which sent you thinking (and some of us googling) at the speed of a mid-air flight, Park the A380 is a challenge that needs a different kind of skill. The task at hand is to park the flight in the hangar within 2 minutes, maneuvering it along a narrow runway with your keyboard. Warning signs appear if you start slipping off the runway, but you’ve got to imagine it as real life with no second chances!

How to Score

The faster you park and the more cranes you collect, the higher your score. Your scores add on each time you play, winning you virtual A380 models and badges of First Officer, Senior First Officer and Captain. You can redeem your virtual A-380 models to enter a lucky draw to win that week’s prize(s).

Cool prizes!

Every week, Lufthansa unlocks a new prize. The coolest ones include Backpacks, Speakers, Sports Bottles and Retro Mugs!

My Strategy

While juggling freelance assignments and blogging, my left brain got a breather parking the A380. Let me warn you, the game is addictive once you get a hang of the A380’s smooth maneuvering ability (not unlike the newest Mercedes ad!). My trick is to keep the plane moving forward and steering it for direction on the go; if you stop longer than a second, you’re probably not going to make the 2 minutes.

Challenge me maybe?

I’m on my way to becoming a Senior First Officer. Will you get there before me? Game on, man.

Play now: Park the A380!

  1. Haha! This reminds me of the games you can play at Cape Canaveral… landing spaceships and pretending to be in a cockpit and stuff. I thought I could be an astronaut.

  4. I played twice and then stopped. it was just waste of time.
Wanted to take the plane off the runway as there was a shortcut, but stupid app wont let me do that 🙂

  5. I want to try this awesome game right now. I used to dream of being a girl pilot that can control and fly different planes but this one would really be exciting. This would be a cool game too to test your mind on how to get high scores and win the game. The picture you posted where you are inside the plane is just so fantastic, I can really imagine myself inside the plane and controlling everything. Wow, thanks for sharing this. I can’t wait to be addicted with this game.
