Prithee, answer me
Are fate and faith two sides of the same coin? Do beliefs contribute to the probability of an event? Is there such a thing as destiny? I don’t know.
I am a novice on this walk of life. I’m only starting to explore the range of possibilities, the depth of ideas, and the infinity of the world. I don’t know if all people are plagued by existential dilemmas at some stage of life, if it’s in every human mind to question our purpose on this planet. I know that my identity crisis has lasted longer that I could have imagined. By now, by twenty, I had hoped to have it all figured out.
You contribute to the variety of people who frequent this blog, with your unique set of experiences, perspectives and demographics. You talk philosophy, humor, life, love, fiction, poetry. I turn to you, o fellow blogger, because my personal interactions haven’t yielded me answers. Do you say you’ve figured this life out? Have you solved the great mystery, or have you surrendered to it? Are you happy, now, in this moment? Do I and my philosophical musings sound like gibberish to you?
Welcome to my blog, The Shooting Star. I’ve been called a storyteller, writer, photographer, digital nomad, “sustainability influencer,” social entrepreneur, solo traveller, vegan, sustainable tourism consultant and environmentalist. But in my heart, I’m just a girl who believes that travel – if done right – has the power to change us and the world we live in.
Life is a maze. The trick is not to try to find a way out. Just enjoy each and every new turn you have found. You will eventually get all the answers. 😉
When I was 20, I felt the same way. Now being 28, you still have moments when you feel lost and don’t know who you are but then you look at the love and life around you and realize, the answering is staring you right in the face.
I think this is the best thing that happened to you. You might see people around you still so immature to have all these thoughts, living without knowing their purpose. I too believe that everyone is here for a purpose and we have to find it. At times its troubling and frustrating but its extremely necessary to find it to gain the mental bliss. I am too walking on the same path and with every passing day, things are becoming more sensible to me and I believe one find day, I will be knowing my purpose…….!!!
Yes I am happy now, in this moment 😀 And hope to be happy in all such moments Because happiness is a choice we make. Find the joy in doing and not merely what it brings you. I think most people go through existential dilemmas. I also believe that we all have a mission and purpose in life. Sorry for the convoluted and perhaps incoherent comment, philosophy makes me feel out of depth 😀
Remember what Chuck Palahniuk once said
“Just remember, the same as a spectacular Vogue magazine, remember that no matter how close you follow the jumps: Continued on page whatever. No matter how careful you are, there’s going to be the sense you missed something, the collapsed feeling under your skin that you didn’t experience it all. There’s that fallen heart feeling that you rushed right through the moments where you should’ve been paying attention. Well, get used to that feeling. That’s how your whole life will feel some day. This is all practice. None of this matters. We’re just warming up.”
It is good that you started thinking in this line. Because realization is just around the corner once you start thinking. I liked what Amit said. In a way it is true. There is no need to question the purpose of life. What if you spend time questioning life and not doing what you are supposed to do. So live life as it comes because what you see, experience is not real. It is just an illusion called life.
On a lighter note, the answer to the great mystery of life is 42 according to Hitchhiker’s guide to galaxy 🙂
Remember the olden days when people used to have pen-pals? Blogging is a the new-age version of this. 😀
O fellow blogger, your philosophies are in the open, not it gives me something to muse on… 🙂
The answer from another novice is yes! But leave your questions, you will let you know the answer. Chill!
And just want to share these few words of Paulo…
“I am convinced now that a definitive answer will never be given to us in this life,
but that, at the last, at the moment when we stand once more before the Creator,
we will understand each opportunity that was offered to us.”
for me , life is just about enjoying to the core …… live every moment to the fullest …… always be jovial and extract all the happiness you could ……… because soon from now , a new face will start and all the friends will disperse , everyone will be busy with their lives ….. and certainly these days will not come back …… but till then …. just ROCK ON !!! 😀
Now I am very happy.. enjoying the things I do or doing the things I enjoy. It can be both ways. As you are thinking now you will will surely find the where’s the happiness is… and that’s the phase everyboby has to go thru..
@ Amit: I sure hope so 🙂
@ writerofthereal: Welcome to the shooting star! And thanks for the hope. I feel sometimes that the answers are staring at me too, I just need to look harder.
@ grtfn19: Yeap, and sometimes those people make you wonder if you’re normal. But I wouldn’t swap sides anyway. I hope we find what we’re looking for soon 🙂
@ Jayesh: It was a very coherent comment actually! And I agree it’s a choice we make, but sometimes you feel too powerless to choose. Glad you’re happy 🙂
@ VC: Brilliant quote. I read it over and again. Thanks for sharing it 😀
